Take it Easy
Hello, Sunday, and welcome to a new day of summer and social distancing—a fresh opportunity to dilly-dally and defer decision-making.
Pictured here is my view from the porch in rural Virginia where today I’ve been writing, napping, and soaking in nature.
Thank you so much for the ENORMOUS response to yesterday’s request for content ideas. I’m glad to hear what’s on your mind—particularly since much of it matches what I’m contemplating myself every day.
But just to be clear:
If you are my patient and need medical advice, please call my office—or 911 if it’s an emergency. For urgent, non-emergency issues after hours, please call the on-call doctor.
If you are not a patient and have specific medical questions and/or are seeking medical advice, please contact your personal physician. I’m glad to provide advice of general nature in my daily newsletters, but my advice is not a substitute for individual guidance from your own doctor.
What I’m DELIGHTED to provide here is broad guidance on physical and mental health during the pandemic. And, thanks to you, I now have a clearer sense of topics to cover (and re-visit) moving forward. Specifically, it’s clear that reopening and the tough decisions that lie ahead are top-of-mind—and incredibly stressful—for all of us.
In closing, I’ll refer you to this wonderful article about assessing risk written by my colleague Dr. Leana Wen, physician, public health expert, and mother. I hope you find it helpful as you ponder your next pool party, picnic, and/or public appearance.
I will see you tomorrow. Until then, be well.
