Dear Dr. "Sabia" wise one,

Thank you for your information, intelligence, statistics, encouragement, reassurance and WISDOM. They combine to give us a pathway and that most important element, HOPE. Of the 40% what percentage of people are actually diagnosed and treated?

In "Reduce Your Risk" you left out what is the most important risk reducer backed up by evidenced based medicine: adopting a mostly plant based diet. The side effects of this are all good: eliminating meat (a carcinogen according th the WHO) reduces risk of colon cancer. Eliminating eggs and dairy reduce risk of prostate and breast cancer and even stop and reverse some prostate cancers according to the research of Dr. DEAN ORNISH. While reducing cancer risk, a plant based diet prevents and reverses CVD, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. Ahhhh ... alcohol. Even one drink has been shown to raise risk. But we hold on to our u healthy habits, both doctors and patients, and hope one or two minor tweaks to our lifestyle will be enough. Why not shoot for maximum health and encourage our patients to do the same.

As always, an excellent presentation of stressful and thought provoking information. Hopefully it will enlighten people to stay aware of their own health screenings and concerns and followup appropriately. Great article. Thank you.

A really important insight . Princess Kate’s address was sobering and heartbreaking when she asked for consideration and privacy to heal and to care for her “young family “. Cancer is difficult enough to navigate without all the added stress she has to endure. I hope the media / news outlets and public give her this space. Thank you for your thoughtful post.
