Diagnosed with IBSC by decault 16 years ago before FODMAPS were well known, so I started with recommendations at helpforibs.com. and avoiding red meat, dairy, and some plant based foods. Have taken soluble fiber, Acacia Senegal fiber for years. A recent doc also recommended (generic) Florastor probiotic. It was several years before I learned about FODMAPS and the app from Monash University in Australia, with good success.

And GERD...no heartburn, but coughing and congestion. Eat at 5:00 pm and have an elevated bed frame. After many years of not being able to take many OTC and Rx meds, finally went back to taking DGS licorice 2-3 times a day with success. Sad that it's taken 16 years to mostly stabilize for both. Hope my experience helps someone else, sooner.

Hi, loved the episode. Very informative. I am wondering what your view is on taking a daily probiotic for gut health.

Great video, loved it. I suffered from gerd and for a period during Covid suffered bloating from consuming literally anything. I saw best results with exercise, 16 hour fast so for not eating anything after 6pm and supplementing with zinc carnosine on an empty stomach and Betaine HCI Pepsin and bitters with meals for at least 3 to 6months. Definitely everyone is different so there is no one size fits all solution. But I came to the conclusion that my stomach acid was low from food sensitivities so yes, alot of time to research and say fodmap to discover what is causing discomfort. Stress is definitely a huge cause. Adrenal support is important as well. Thank you for sharing all your expertise and I hope people find the relief and healthy balance so they can strive!

Thanks for keeping it commonly basic!!!😆So much to know thy self right? Helps if you go to your doctor when you keep a journal of what you do and consume to solve a mystery sometimes. Thanks for sharing the wealth of health ❤️

So glad you recommended Dropping Acid, the exceedingly helpful book about reflux. The same author (Dr. Jamie Kaufman) has a follow up book with dozens of low-acid recipes. Both books mention that a significant trigger (not on the list in your post) is, unfortunately, CHOCOLATE. I find that even a bite of two of chocolate cake or candy immediately dilates my esophageal sphincter and makes me vulnerable to reflux. Very sad! Thanks for your comprehensive GI post!
