Thanks so. That helps a great deal. I am really focusing on those three items these days so that is great news.

I’m new to Substack (3 weeks). Every Wednesday I write about resetting your stress and will offer you and others strategies to cope in this new normal.

Is there anything to the many comments about resetting the vagus nerve or is that woooo?

Great Q. The vagus nerve is one part of a complex stress mechanism. Better to do simple resets for your stress overall (sleep, movement, breathing) than focus on ‘resetting’ vagus nerve. Similar to focusing on nutrition + weights for stronger core vs doing only crunches. Hope that helps!

Even though menttal wellbeing is not separate, the medical system compartmentalizes us into livers and brains, etc., and NOT holistically or as one interconnected being. Of course that was the point you were trying to make yet it seems like an effort in futility. In fact, listen to that section again which dialogue is early-in to the broadcast.

Yes! We call this the “reductionist model” in science vs a broader approach called the “biopsychosocial model” that future generations of doctors are learning NOW.

We addressed biopsychocial (inc. spiritual and much more, of course) for decades in the mental health industrial complex from which I'm retired. This said, even that was done within the constraints of a patriarchal system, in our particular setting, so there's that. And, which system was big-pharma driven. An oft suppressed POV or factoid is that suicide is highest in MD or medical profession, interesting enough; and very taboo to discuss, historically. Ostracization, blacklisting and silencing can result as well. Only a handful of M.D. or less seem to be able speak to it and provide covert (as in very discreet) retreat/sanctuary. Good luck. I hope you can change the tide in sustainable ways... that break through some of the occupational abuses and controls. Decolonization comes to mind. Admittedly I'm not deeply familiar with your research yet as I have just discovered your content here a few days ago...
