This is a story I needed to hear right now! Kindness is contagious! My children tease me because they say "You make friends everywhere you go mom." I love talking to people who are checking me out in a store, people waiting in the same line as me, or someone preparing food that I have ordered. With few exceptions, it makes people feel good to be recognized as a living, breathing person! You just never know what you might learn talking to a stranger!
Shelly I completely agree! My kids, too, are often mortified when I compliment the jewelry on the grocery store checker… or when I ask a perfect stranger in s shop what they think of the blouse I’m trying on … 😆 But, inevitably, that connection provides a little slice of joy. To be seen in small moments is, to me, part of the magic of being alive.
Wow!! I love this post! How uplifting and wonderful!! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us!! You're the Best! And I love your title -- Make Kindness Great Again!! You do this everyday!
Faith restored! This whole post resonated with me so deeply. The much needed getaway with the husband, the shared bracelet, glitter and group effort to retrieve your hat. Your writing style is so real and honest. Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to write these newsletters. They mean so much!
This literally made me tear up. I can totally imagine my darling nieces (a little younger than the 10-year old) offering friendship bracelets. Kindness totally is contagious!
I am happily teary from reading this story. Just love so much experiencing these genuine moments of beautiful connection through the eyes (and typing fingers) of my fellow humans. Thank you, thank you!
I have shared your morning’s post to many members of my family and to many friends! Here is a response from one of my friends—
Jan, I saw and read the posting of Dr. McBride. It was very uplifting and a testimony to the goodness of people if we only try to see the world through a perspective of charity towards others. I was at a shopping center recently and saw an elderly man shuffling toward the Giant. He was not lifting his feet at all. I was concerned about how he was going to navigate the curb, and quickened my step to get to him. Suddenly, a large young man (who looked a bit scary to me) sprinted across the parking lot and assisted the elderly man to step up to the sidewalk. The elderly man bowed to his helper and the young man gave him a pat on the back. It was such a touching scene.
Like you beautifully stated, “to be seen in small moments, is part of the magic of being alive.”
OMG! This story is just so great! I can't wait to hear more about it during my exam. It's amazing what acts of kindness can do for one's spirit--receiving and giving. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

The little girls at the concert were a treasure to behold. Their energy and joy was infectious! I tried to soak up every ounce of it. ❤️
Awwwww the moments of kindness!!! So happy you shared this with us! Taylor Swift is amazing! I must see one of her performances!!!
This reminds me of the Ted Lasso episode of when Rebecca fell into the canal in Amsterdam!😄
Haha I can’t believe I haven’t watched Ted Lasso yet! It’s on the list!
Love this story, so much kindness I’ve seen over years of travel. Strangers opening their heart in Barbados recently was inspiring and amazing
Truly!
Another great piece.
