The pandemic heightened the lack of belonging I feel in my family of origin. I wanted more long-term safety data on the novel vaccines. I am young and healthy. My mother would have excluded me from her life and my job was at risk, so I got it. I understand her rationale, but she never tried to understand mine. We co-exist peacefully but I do not feel I belong, and holidays make it more poignant.
