I had a boss that used to like to say "don't let perfection get in the way of progress". He was a bit of a workaholic but in this he was right.

The 2% substack did a good article on being strong enough. Figure out what enough is, not just fitness but you can think of most things this way and stop yourself when you get to enough.

Finally I can credit a Ted talk for this but the difference between happy and unhappy is expectations. Having reasonable expectations and understanding what is going on around you makes it easier to be happy.

How fortunate am I not to be perfectionist! I only hope that your well reasoned and subtantiated article helped those many people who get trapped in self, other o societal perfectionism.

May your Holy Days and your holidays reward you with those feelings , beliefs and ideals you mot treasure. Fondly, Ellen

Thank you for this wonderful reminder. As someone who can relate to all three types of perfectionism, I can say that it’s a lifelong struggle! 🫠 But I find it’s especially insidious around the holidays. For some reason I don’t feel pressured to make everything merry (phew), but I can feel the pressure in the air. Which is particularly unfortunate because this is the time of year when all beings slow down and conserve energy, as it gets colder and there’s less light.

Maybe we should be more like trees: letting go of our leaves (expectations, etc.) so we can conserve our energy for the cold months ahead. 🍂 Thanks again and happy holidays.
